Shimmer covers any cloth built to catch light across its whole surface rather than in worked points — metallic-yarn weaves, foil-finished grounds, lurex-shot cloth. Unlike sequins or beadwork, the shine is continuous, so it reads as a glow rather than a sparkle and it stitches like an ordinary fabric.

Most shimmer finishes will not take a hot iron. Press low, through a cloth, from the reverse, and test on a scrap first.
