Upada Silk Fabric

Upada silk at TradeUNO — Upada in plain weave at 44 inches (1.12 m), from around Rs. 590 a metre.

Upada is a fine, lightweight art silk with a soft sheen and a notably fluid fall — it drapes closer to the body than dupion or raw silk, which is why it suits sarees, dupattas and flowing kurtas rather than structured pieces. It takes zari and thread work without stiffening.

Light silks crease when folded for long periods; roll rather than fold if you are holding stock.
