Khadi Fabric

Khadi fabric at TradeUNO — hand-spun, hand-woven khadi in plain weave. Cotton khadi runs at 42 inches from around Rs. 333 a metre; khadi silk at 44 inches.

Khadi is defined by process, not fibre: the yarn is hand-spun and the cloth hand-woven, which is why the surface carries slight irregularities and why it breathes better than mill cotton of the same weight. It softens considerably after the first few washes and shrinks, so pre-wash before cutting.
