Dupion Silk Fabric

Dupion silk at TradeUNO — dupion at 44 inches (1.12 m) in plain weave, with dupion silk tissue woven in jacquard weave.

Dupion is spun from double cocoons, which is why the yarn carries irregular slubs along its length. Those slubs are the fabric, not a fault — they catch light unevenly and give dupion its characteristic crisp rustle and dry, papery hand. Per-metre prices are listed on each product page.

It holds a structured shape better than most silks, which makes it the usual pick for blouses, lehenga panels, jackets and sherwanis rather than anything draped. It creases sharply and water-spots, so dry clean and press from the reverse.
